How to Edit Your Profile Page
There are two ways to edit your public user profile listed on the Library Staff Directory and the Subject Librarians & Specialists page:
To access your WordPress Dashboard, go to the top left corner of the screen, hover over Northeastern University Library and select Dashboard.
From the WordPress Dashboard, you should see a list of menu items located on the left hand side of the screen where you can do the following:
- Add Media
- Edit your private user profile.
- Edit your basic user information and change the theme of your WordPress Dashboard.
- Access your department posts.
- Edit Public User Profile
- Edit the information publicly displayed on the Library Staff Directory and Subject Librarians & Specialists pages.
- Access the Collection Order Request Form
- Access the Supply Request Form
From the Edit Profile page, you can edit your:
- Profile Photo: Please use a photo that is clear and reasonably sized.
Staff Details
- First Name & Last Name: Feel free to change it to the name you prefer to display on your public profile page.
- Display name publicly as: Choose how you would like your name to be displayed.
- Pronouns: Please use the pronouns you want to show next to your name.
- Leave Status: Users can now set their leave status to "On Leave" for extended absences.
- Location: Select up to three locations where you work or offer services.
- Job Title
Subject Guides
The "Subject" and "Subject URL" field will only appear if you are assigned the role of "Subject Librarian" or "Specialist". If you do not have access to these fields and need them, please use the Website Requests form.
- Add a Subject: Select the "+" symbol in the bottom right corner of the box to add additional subjects to your profile on the Subject Librarians & Specialists page.
- Delete a Subject: Select the "x" in the left hand corner of the box to delete a subject.
*Note: You will always have at least one box showing on this page if you are assigned the role of "Subject Librarian" or "Specialist". If you do not wish to show any subjects on the Subject Librarians & Specialists page, leave the "Subject" and "Subject URL" field empty.
- About: You have the option to add additional information about yourself that will be shared on your public profile page.
Contact Info
- Email: Your Northeastern University issued email address.
- Phone: Your Northeastern University issued phone number that you can find in Microsoft Teams by selecting the "Calls" tab. Your work number should be listed under the on screen keypad.
- Website Title: Title to the webpage that links to your Subject Guides page.
- Website URL: The web URL to the webpage you would like the "Website Title" to link to.
*Note: If you are assigned the role of "Subject Librarian" or "Specialist", use "Research Guides/Make an appointment" for the "Website Title" and link to your Subject Guides profile which should start with "https://subjectguides.lib.neu.edu/prf.php?account_id=".
Update Your Password
- Password: Where you can change your password.
- Repeat Password: Confirm your new password.
*To save your changes, make sure you select the "Update" button located at the bottom of the form.
